Sorry for being MIA for a few days! It has been a crazy couple of weeks, but I am officially DONE finals and I’m all yours!
While being busy with final exams this past couple weeks, it has gotten me thinking about how hard it can be to find time to ride your horses especially if you are in school or have a busy life. Horses are a big part of my life and it was definitely hard to not see my horse for a couple weeks over final exams. Today, I wanted to give all of you busy people out there 5 tips on how to balance your busy life and horse riding. Let’s get started! Enjoy 😉
Tip #1: Talk to your Riding Trainer
Talking to your riding trainer is super important to staying focused and balancing your busy life. Whether you ride a couple times a month or every week, I definitely suggest talking to your trainer about your riding schedule. If you have scheduled a class every week, but also are in the midst of exams, talk to your trainer and work out a different plan. This can release your stress and worries about being pressured to attend every single riding lesson.
Tip #2: Set your Priorities
When your in the midst of school or work, make sure to set your priorities on what is most important. Yes, I know you might be thinking, “Horses are the most important to me”, but when setting your priorities unfortunately school and work is #1 before horse riding. Make a to-do list every week on what you have to accomplish and set your priorities from the most important to the least important. Once you have completed your most important priorities, then you can have time to have fun and go ride your horse!
Tip #3: Organize, Organize, Organize
Organizing every part of my week has literally been life changing for me! Organizing your week can be purchasing a yearly planner to write your goals and schedule. This can also make your week seem a little less stressful and CRAZY! You probably know by now, but I am OBSESSED with planners. If I walk in a store with a bunch of cute planners, you could never get me out of there (haha)! Whether you are using a planner, a calendar, or sticky notes to organize, anything will help! Staying organized helps you to be able to get things done faster so you are able to spend even more time at the barn 🙂
Tip #4: Eliminate Distractions
This is a super important tip to staying focused. I have trouble staying focused especially when a bunch of notifications are going off on my phone or if I am looking at the latest clothing brands. Make sure to eliminate distractions when you are studying, working, or you just have a really busy week in general. Eliminating those distractions can help you to stay focused and be more productive. Once you are finished your tasks for the week, then you are able to treat yourself with horseback riding.
Tip #5: Remember to RELAX
The last tip I have for you is the MOST important… remember to relax! I seriously cannot stress this enough. During the busy times in life, it is so important to make sure that you relax and have time to yourself. That might mean relaxing in a nice, warm bubble bath or binge-watching Netflix. Relaxing for me means spending time with my horse and just being in the presence of my horse. Sky definitely helps me to relax!
I hope that you found these tips helpful and maybe will start implementing them in your busy life! Thanks for reading 🙂 Until next time… don’t forget to hug your horse!
