As I said, Alta Mira Horsemanship is founded by Lindsey who began her riding journey when she was just 5 years old. Lindsey’s blog is SO insightful and she is so knowledgeable! Alta Mira Horsemanship is for any horseman or horsewoman who wants to be able to build a deeper connection with their horse, young or old. Lindsey is seriously the sweetest person, so make sure to check out all of the links below to her social media as well as her blog.
Lindsey and I put together a video for you all where we talk about equestrian blogging, what it truly means to us, and how we became passionate about horses in the first place. We came up with 5 questions related to blogging which wrote my answers below this video for you to read. We also had the opportunity to talk more in depth about the three questions that stood out to us.
Make sure to check out Lindsey’s post on Alta Mira Horsemanship to read her amazing answers as well!
1. Share a little bit about how you got into horses in the first place
My love of horses began when I was about 7 years old and started from my mom. My mom always loved horses and rode horses when she was younger, so the passion and love really just passed on to me. At the time when I was 7, she had been leasing a horse for a while, but the horse was definitely too advanced for me. My mom then put me in riding lessons and the first horse I rode was a welsh pony named Bunker. He was the sweetest horse ever! I jumped for the first time on Bunker and it was AMAZING and so thrilling! Since then, I have been riding horses and have been loving it every step of the way.
2. Who inspires you to blog and why?
There are SO many people who inspire me to blog and why, but I will just share a few with you today! 🙂 First of all, my parents definitely inspire me to blog. My parents run a successful online business teaching people how to start a business or blog online. They have supported me since the beginning of blogging and have helped me SO much! I definitely owe a lot to them. The second person who inspires me to blog is definitely my riding instructor. He has been the first instructor who has helped me to feel confident in my riding and who has really helped me succeed. He is so knowledgeable and I am constantly learning new things from him! Lastly, my horse has inspired me as well. She has challenged me and definitely has helped me grow as a person and a rider.
3. Why do you think building the equestrian community is important and what do we have to offer to one another?
This is such a great question because building the equestrian community is SO important, especially in blogging! It’s important that as equestrian bloggers we have a support system around us throughout our blogging journeys. Trust me, there will be tough times in blogging and it is definitely not easy, but having those blogging friends around you is super important! They can help you to not give up and to keep pushing forward. I have met an AMAZING friend who has helped me for the past year of blogging and I am seriously so grateful for her. She always has the best ideas and I honestly would not be where I am at in my blog together without her help and constant support. So THANK YOU, Taiya! Check out her incredible blog HERE!
4. What do you see as current trends in Equestrian Blogging
There are so many trends in Equestrian blogging! I love how each blog is so unique and special in it’s own way. I feel that a topic that is really popular right now is equestrian fashion blog posts such as the latest equestrian fashion trends or product reviews. I love trying out and finding new equestrian companies! Shopping is so fun especially when it is related to horses 🙂 I also feel that fitness is a topic that is starting to become more popular, especially in regards to fitness routines for horse riders.
5. What do you hope your readers gain by reading your blog?
There are so many things I hope you all can gain from reading my blog! My top two things I hope you gain is 1) confidence in themselves and their riding and 2) a stronger relationship with their horse. It’s easy to get discouraged in horse riding especially when you aren’t doing as well as you had hoped. For the first couple years of my riding, I wasn’t as confident as I wanted to be. Now being with the trainer I am with now, I am SO much more confident in myself as a horse rider and my accomplishments. I want you to feel confident as well! Having a strong realtionship and bond with your horse is so important and I seriously cannot stress it enough. If you have a strong bond with your horse, you can do anything!
Until next time… don’t forget to hug your horse!
