HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! WOOOO!
I CANNOT believe it is already 2018! I am so excited to have a fresh start to a new year and to set brand new goals. It is time to say goodbye to 2017 and hello to 2018! I have to admit, there were some challenges this year, but there were also some amazing moments as well! I am so grateful for how Horse Chats has grown over the past year and the constant loyalty from you and all of my subscribers. Thank you!
I love setting new goals, especially in horse riding, so today I am sharing with you some tips to crushing your riding goals this year. Sometimes it’s hard to complete your riding goals, so these tips will help to keep you focused and diligent. I hope that you enjoy this post and most of all find it helpful!
#1 – Purchase a Year Planner
I don’t know about you, but I love planners! They make me feel so organized. My first tip to crushing your riding goals this year, is to invest in a planner. A planner helps you to set out your goals and plan out your days, months, and year, step by step. I recently bought my 2018 planner from Indigo in the colour turquoise. A planner is easily customizable and very efficient to achieving your goals.
#2 – Create a Riding Inspiration Wall
A riding inspiration wall is an amazing tip to completing your goals! A riding inspiration wall can be any wall that you put up motivational riding pictures or quotes. It helps you to have a focused mindset when you feel like you want to give up or can’t achieve your goals. Just Google riding images that inspire you or find images from magazines, print or cut them out, and put them on your wall.
#3 – Set Out Your Goals with Your Riding Instructor/Mentor
If you feel that you need accountability, share your yearly goals with your riding instructor or mentor. They can help you stay focused and can also change your lesson plans to help you complete your goals efficiently by the end of the year. It is good to share your goals with your riding instructor because they are able to see what you are working towards and wanting to accomplish.
#4 – Plan Your Goals in Sections – Weekly, Monthly, Yearly
Planning out your goals in sections can help you to set weekly, monthly, and yearly goals for your riding. Short term goals could be attending a horse show or learning how to braid your horse’s mane and tail, whereas, long term goals could be training your horse to do a trick or teaching yourself to become more confident in riding. Set a date that you want to have your goal achieved by and put the time into your phone or calendar. This will help keep you accountable and have a clear focus in mind.
#4 – Take it One Step at a Time
Take it one step at a time. Sometimes, when I set out my goals I want to complete them right away, but I have to remind myself that goals take time and they won’t be easy. Whether you have big goals or small ones, take it one step at a time. Whenever I am rushing to achieve a goal, I always remind myself of the reason I set this goal. When I remind myself of the reason, it helps me to reflect on what is important.
#5 – Use the Horse Chats Goal Sheet Tracker
My last tip to help you crush your riding goals this year is to use the Horse Chats Goal Sheet Tracker. A couple months ago, I created a shop and made a goal tracker to help you track your goals easily. If you don’t want to invest in a planner, I definitely suggest my affordable goal sheet.
