I recently changed my slogan for Horse Chats on my blog to “inspired to ride” rather than “ride and inspire.” I really wanted to unpack why I changed it as this slogan really is what my blog is all about. So, what does “inspired to ride” really mean? It is pretty self-explanatory, but behind those simple words are three reasons HOW I want to inspire others to ride. Inspired to ride with:
First and foremost, I wanted to inspire people to ride with PURPOSE. What is purpose exactly? When we ride horses, it is all about purpose. What do you want to do with your horse? What is your goal for the future? What do you want to accomplish today? I really have thought long and hard about what my purpose is in regards to horses. I believe my purpose is to share my experiences with others through my blog in hopes of inspiring them as I have been inspired. I will continue working with my horses striving for that “perfect” ride. So, ask yourself, what is your purpose? Figure out what your purpose is and go for it!
I want to inspire you to ride with PRESENCE. Being present while horse riding is super important. I can’t stress enough how our emotions affect our horses. I ride a horse named Kahari who is super sensitive and the minute I am tense, immediately she is tense as well. I have to be very in-tune with my emotions and how I am feeling to better understand the horses I ride. I have to catch myself when I get distracted or allow my mind to wander while I am in the saddle because when I am distracted my horse can get distracted easily as well. Again, horses “mirror” our actions. How do you ensure you remain present with while you ride?
Lastly, I created this blog to inspire others to ride with PASSION. Having a strong passion for horses is so huge in becoming a better horse rider. Are you passionate about horse riding? If you have lost your passion, it may be time to shake things up. Being passionate about horses really means to love what you are doing and ultimately to LOVE spending time with your horse. Passion is not static, but rather is always changing and we must change for it to continue to grow. Maybe it is time to change your routine, try a new horse, find a new barn, or get out, hit the trails and just enjoy the scenery.
“Why do I ride horses? Because I look at my horse and I see my hopes and dreams. I see my happiness. I see my success. I see my pride and my soul. I look in the mirror and I see a person. I look at my horse and I see myself.”
Starting today, choose to ride with PURPOSE, PRESENCE, and PASSION and, trust me, you will achieve your goals in horse riding and maybe inspire a few people along the way 🙂 Now, whenever you visit my blog and look at my slogan, I hope that purpose, presence, and passion will come to mind. Until next time… don’t forget to hug your horse!
